Ocean is Lady Antebellum’s ninth album, a culmination of twelve years spent chasing Little Big Town in the country-harmony sweepstakes. The band’s unerring sense for picking country-pop ear-candy, some sweet, some sour, has been its cachet. The charm of such classics as “Need You Now” or “Just a Kiss" resurfaces everywhere on Ocean. “What If I Never Get over You,” “Pictures,” “Crazy Love,” or “What I’m Leaving For” all follow the mid-tempo, breezy template that Lady A has perfected. The harmonies are seamless, the sentiments are sentimental, the lyrics are lyrical, and, while many of the bland song titles sound like afterthoughts at best, the entire album is a pleasant country cruise – with one outstanding exception. It doesn’t take a graduate of Columbia to see that the gem of Ocean is “The Thing That Wrecks You.” Little Big Town adds its four voices to Lady A’s three, building such a layered, contrapuntal choir that chills ensue when all seven voices soar into the chorus of “oh, you’re running down a darkened road where even angels might not go.” Just try not to sing along! This track alone is worth the admission price! Here’s hoping for many more Lady Big Town mergers further down the dusty trail!

I''m still coming to terms with this one... it''s not the sorrowful masterpiece of Own The Night and it''s not the party of 747. It''s not as schlocky as Heart Break or rough as their debut. I don''t hear any major singles when I listen to it, but I do hear a couple songs with subtle power that I''ll be listening too several years from now. Pictures stands out to me, as does The Thing That Wrecks You. I want to like Ocean better... but I think it suffers coming after Mansion. I am able to listen to this one & I''m coming to enjoy it, but I do wish they''re knock another one out of the park. There''s a little too much "I think the fans would like this..." at play instead of "Ooooh, how''d you come up with that?"

If you are a Lady A fan, this CD is a MUST. The vocals are I think the best they have ever been. Very powerful songs. This CD has been on repeat for a couple of weeks.

Ten years ago country music wasn''t on my radar although I loved bands like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. But then I heard Need You Now in the middle of a personal emotional time for me and that song totally resonated with me. Since then I have fallen in love with Lady Antebellum''s music. I love the perfect chemistry of their voices and the beautifully written and produced songs. Every album contains a huge variety of songs that push the boundaries of country music to the heady heights of the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Above all I love the honesty and the emotion found within every song whether its uplifting or incredibly sad. This album "Oceans" like their other albums has its own unique feel and this one seems to have an underlying more traditional ountry feel than on previous albums. I have only been listening to Oceans for day and so the stand out tracks are the songs that were released over the last couple of months. All their songs always grow better and better with each listen hence I already love "What If I never get over you", "Pictures", "Ocean" and perhaps my favourite the rockier "Boots". It won''t be long before I love all the songs. Lady Antebellum are also a fantastic live band able to perform the songs even better than on their records so I hope I get to see them again next year in the UK or if I''m really lucky when I''m in Nashville next May.

Check out the amazing video. Sharing their family lives with fans is amazing. I love country music and yet again LA hit it out of the park. There is not one bad track. All their albums are amazing, but also check out their solo ones, Charles Kelly - Driver (wonderful especially the track with Stevie Nicks), Hillary Scott & the Scott Family - Love Remains (Hillary & her family singing beautiful songs).
